Modernist stylized jockey rider and horse sterling silver brooch.
Made in Denmark by the Evald Nielsen Silversmith Firm
Designer: Bjarne Weimar "Good Mood Brooch"
Hallmarks: EN 925 S (Evald Nielsen's sylized mark). DANMARK
Year: Circa 1945
Size: 2 7/8 inches long (nose to tail)
Weight: 12.7 grams
This appears to be from a series of appropriately titled "Good Mood" pieces created right after the German Occupation of Denmark, and the end of WWII. I have only seen a couple of examples (a mermaid and an ice skater) , they appear to be somewhat scarce.
This has a lovely patina, and the old style trombone closure.
Very nice condition with no noted issues.
The brooch depicts a jockey on a horse. The horse is flat, but the jockey has some dimension to him. This pin measures 2 7/8" at the widest point.
